Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
Taken from the Book of Hebrews Chapter 12 verse 1
For the spiritually enlightened person, there is a profound difference between where they are and where they strive to be. This is the nature of the spiritual quest wherein the challenge is always one to transcend your current reality be it in the struggle of obtaining freedom from a failed relationship, peace amid illness or joy amid bereavement. The spiritual quest is always such that some elements of your current humanity are being shed for a higher and nobler way.
That being so, the process of honest self examination is always a painful reminder of the gulf between where you are, and the place where you strive to be. This gulf is filled with the many missteps and painful failings that stand as barriers to your full redemption. In the face of this stark reality, many opt for a superficial faith free of reflection and meditation. To live a life of integrity however demands that your current reality be dealt with.
There is a resolution to this dilemma and the first step in obtaining it lies in understanding that your absolution is not to be found within you. This resolution is to be found beyond you and yet easily met within the very nature of a God who delights in blessing you. The heart of God goes out to the person who is truly sorry for what he has done and has begun the process of expressing this sorrow with a sense of integrity. The faith is such however that the measure of grace that you receive is in direct proportion to the level of remorse that you have felt over the past sins in your life.
This is faith’s truest beginning, that yearning to be where you are unable to go coupled with the awareness that the getting there is in the hands of a loving and caring God. This is the seed of faith that is to be planted. This seed though now small and frail will grow to be the very foundation of your own unique faith system.
