In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will.

Chapter 1 verse 11
What a challenge it is to reflect upon the concept of predestination. It is a concept that goes to the very core of defining both who you are and how you are to relate to your creator. It defines who you are in that you were not created in and of yourself but rather by an entity who knew you prior to your existence. Additionally, it defines your creator as a responsible entity, one that creates with a sense of purpose. Your world was not therefore created by mere chance or contingency but rather by an infinitely intelligent individual who created with a desire to draw near to you. In order to accomplish that end, he in fact created a world loaded with messages that are designed to share with you his views of you and how you are to relate to him. This is what it means to live in a world which is ultimately controlled by its creator.
Additionally, your world with all of its experiences bumps and bruises and at times loaded with seemingly indecipherable messages was so created for the express purpose of bringing you to your highest and grandest self. This process of spiritual growth is the element of your humanity that is eternal and as such is the element that surpasses time itself with a life that extends beyond the grave.
Standing therefore before a predestinating God, the many paths that trace out before you now are in fact all revelatory of many elements of the divine nature. This is so because you were predestined not for misery but rather for good, finding your place in fulfilling the divine will both in and around you. That being so, take ownership of your life right now with all that is going on within it knowing that wherever you are in your journey, you are now standing in the vantage point designed for you that you with all the uniqueness of your nature might have a clear view of your creator.
